Ready to Archive / jag-corps-base
The JAG Corps Base is the home of the Judge Advocate General officers. They oversee legal matters and personnel, such as court martials or other legal proceedings. While they mainly work on Starfleet matters, they can also be called upon by officers for other things such as domestic matters.

Phoenix was doing his usual as a Jags officer, reading up on current cases that he would need to go through in the station. Typing all types of info on separate sections of his PADD as he tried to separate the fact from the fiction as he skimmed through evidence. It was a tough job to stay at for so many hours, but he didn't mind it at all. It was like putting on the heating into a cold room for him, the best feeling that you could make a difference in somebodies life by saving them from the law, or even stripping away the fears of a power hungry turn-coat. It was also relaxing to know that he was the only one that used these offices, he liked the silence and to relax without any random questions on what he was doing. (edited)

The corridors of Starbase 777 were bustling with activity as officers and crew members went about their tasks. Pilkim moved through the crowd with purposeful steps: he was finally beginning to understand the layout of the station. His destination? The J.A.G. offices, a place he had yet to visit since his arrival. As he approached the designated area, his mind buzzed with anticipation. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity as to why they wanted to see him. Was there perhaps a security matter that required his input? Or perhaps they simply wanted to discuss a procedural matter? Was his testimony needed for some cases? He did not know and that troubled him not a little. Putting these thoughts aside, Yira concentrated on the task at hand. Arriving at the door, he adjusted his uniform for a moment, making sure he looked tidy and professional. With bated breath, he pressed the doorbell, whose soft echo signalled his arrival, waiting for a response from whoever was in the office.

"Please enter." He said towards the door as he placed his work to the side, waiting for to see if it was a person of interest. Hoping that he could get down to business regarding a case that he was following up on. Standing up as he waited for the person to enter into the room. Phoenix walked over towards the door after a few seconds of waiting, thinking that it would be more professional to let the person in. The doors flew open as he stared at the Ensign that was in front of him, wondering if he was the right person for the job. Standing to the side of the door as he nodded his head in a greeting manner since he didn't know what species greetings he should do. "Would you like any tea or coffee before we begin, sometimes I find it helpful to offer people liquid before talking about a list of subjects?" He said before motioning to the chairs as he walked towards the Jag corps replicator.

Pilkim stepped into the office, his gaze shifting from the officer in front of him to the surroundings. He returned the nod, appreciating the gesture of hospitality. The officer's aura exuded a sense of authority and professionalism, which prompted a subtle - almost instinctive - adjustment in Pilkim's posture as he stepped further into the room. "Thank you sir. I'll take a Ginseng, sweet." Pilkim replied, his tone respectful yet focused. He took note of Phoenix's professionalism and made a mental note to follow suit. "Ensign Yira Pilkim, at your service." His mind was still speculating on the potential reasons for this summons. He awaited the officer's response with a calm demeanor, hands clasped behind his back, almost at standstill: he was clearly waiting for him to give permission to sit down.

"Alright, I will have that ready for you in a second. Please feel free to walk about the room or even take a seat, whatever you want to do really." Phoenix waddled his way over to the jags replicator as he pressed a button on it. "One Ginseng sweetened" He said as he watched the magic happen as it appeared out of thin air. Placing his hand on its handle as he made his way over to his desk as he placed it on the side that Yira would sit at. "Computer, afternoon tea program one." He said as he twisted the Ginsengs mug handle towards Yira for easy picking up. Waltzing over towards the replicator as he picked up a tray with a teapot and cups on it. Just in case Yira wanted a bit of tea after the Ginseng. "Are you allergic to any forms of ginger?" He asked as he made his way back towards the table as he had some gingerbread cookies on standby. Taking his seat as he waited for a response in case he was allergic.

Pilkim watched with mild interest as Phoenix efficiently went about preparing the requested beverage. He appreciated the offer of hospitality as he found himself drawn to the calming aroma wafting from the mug as it materialized. Nonetheless, he maintained a composed exterior, careful not to overstep any boundaries or appear too familiar. He approached the desk, assuming that the positioning of the cup in front of the comfortable chair was an invitation from the officer to sit down. He moved mechanically, adjusting his uniform as he sat down, placing his hands resting on his stomach. "No allergies of any sort but I appreciate your concern, sir," Pilkim replied shaking his head, his tone measured. He took a sip of the Ginseng, relishing its soothing warmth as he waited for the conversation to progress.

Phoenix made himself comfortable as he slid in his office chair, Placing the tray to his left as he nodded at Yira as he took one of the cookies for himself. Nibbling on the side of it as he tried to think of how to start the conversation since he was a bit awkward when it came to thinking that he could offend somebody with his comments. Though perhaps now was the best time to try and show his dedication to the Jag corps, and for those people to suffer at the hands of justice. "Thank you for coming to this meeting. You may be aware of recent events that have happened on this starbase, but I wanted to gain clarity for the judge advocate general. Just so we can have evidence on standby when it comes to these matters. " Phoenix used his other hand to grab his mug of tea as he briefly slurped it before putting it back down. "I want to make it clear that I probably won't be representing the federation in this matter but I wish to attain a sort perspective from a security officer. That's why I have chosen you, since I always believe in going to anyone that represents that core." Phoenix pushed over the gingerbread cookie plate over towards Yira as a sign of good will, hoping that he would take one. "If you could offer your services that would be a big help towards putting dangerous people out of the federation. That's my job for right now, just getting things in order for when it comes to actual prosecution." (edited)

Pilkim accepted the gingerbread cookie with a small nod of appreciation. He listened attentively to Phoenix, processing the officer's words with a focused mind. "Of course, sir," Pilkim replied respectfully. "I'm here to assist in any way I can." Mindful of the seriousness of the situation at hand, Pilkim took a moment to collect his thoughts before continuing. "I'll do my best to provide any insights that may be helpful," Pilkim added, his voice steady and composed. However, he couldn't help but feel a little surprised that they had called upon him, an Ensign, for an advisory opinion. He was a capable and promising officer with an excellent academic record, there was no doubt about it, but he lacked field experience. Perhaps a more experienced officer would have been more appropriate for the situation? Nevertheless, he tried not to dwell on it and focused on doing his best to assist Phoenix with whatever he needed perhaps the matter was easy to resolve, or perhaps other officers were busy with more pressing problems.
